Pisco would create new tourism routes
RPP | 31.1.0.07 |Pisco, Peru’s flagship drink, can be an excellent reason to create new tourism routes in the pisco valleys of the south of the country, said Eduardo Arrate, Vice-Minister of Tourism.
“We have to give tourism value to the areas where pisco is produced. We are developing a campaign to better know Peru and I think pisco may be a marvelous introduction to new tourism routes that would include sites where our flagship drink is produced,” he said.
He added that Peru needs to add a tourism component to pisco in order to highlight the cultural and geographical aspect of the sites where pisco is produced.
“Peruvians can visit pisco valleys to know about the production process and enjoy the delicious food and tourism attractions of the areas,” he said.
Relating tourism activity to pisco production would also help to reduce poverty and improve the living conditions of communities living close to the pisco valleys.
“This would drive the improvement of infrastructure in the surrounding areas and the generation of investments, which must be complemented by social and environmental responsibility,” he concluded.
