A total of 307 pisco samples from Tacna, Moquegua, Arequipa, Ica and Lima competed during the 12th National Pisco Festival and the 15th National Pisco Contest, held this weekend in Jockey Plaza’s Convention Center.
The Ministry of Production, Mr. Rafael Rey, inaugurated the event and said that this year’s requirements were more demanding, mainly due to the recognition pisco is gaining throughout the world.
“This leads us to manufacture an increasingly better product, both in terms of quality and presentation,” he said.
In this regard, he added that regional contests have seen a significant improvement of products. “Producers have presented new pisco varieties and new presentations, based on their knowledge, technology and constant innovation.”
The changes made to pisco bottles’ sizes have greatly influenced the recovery of average prices, as emphasis is now put on quality and not quantity.
Mr. Rey commented that his Ministry continues its efforts to position pisco in the domestic and global markets. “We have made inter-sectorial work and coordination with the private sector in |
